(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Managed dedicated hosting provider The Planet (www.theplanet.com) announced on Monday it has launched its new "Lowest Price on The Planet" promotion in an effort to attract new business from existing customers of other web hosts.
The announcement follows last week's news of The Planet expanding the range of new options for its Hosting Partner Program, opening its entire product portfolio.
From now on, when a prospective customer submits an invoice or a valid price quote from a competitor, The Planet says it will "beat the offer on price with an equivalent configuration for either self-managed dedicated or fully managed hosting."
The idea is comparable to a "lowest price guarantee" promotion offered by popular retail outlets, such as Best Buy and Wal-Mart.
Additionally, The Planet is offering with this promotion one month of free hosting, free migration assistance with relocation from a competitor, and a free month of monitoring with reaction, one of its Alpha Advanced Services offerings.
"Few companies are in a position to offer a deal of this magnitude," says Urvish Vashi, general manager of The Planet's dedicated servers line of business. "We're known for our enterprise-quality network and world-class, SAS 70 Type II data centers, both of which provide the industry’s best customer experience. Backed by our financial stability and the broadest range of name-brand servers in the business, there's no better value and no better path to lowering IT costs, particularly in today's difficult economic environment."
The promotion is certainly not without its exceptions. For instance, the qualifying equivalent server configuration must be currently offered by The Planet and have the same processor, storage, memory, and bandwidth specifications.
Once a qualifying equivalent server configuration is found, The Planet will match or beat the competitor's price.
The Planet provides a range of hosting solutions, including dedicated servers, managed dedicated servers, Northstar managed hosting and data center colocation.
