GlobalSign Offers New SSL Option

Certification authority and security solutions provider GlobalSign (globalsign.com) announced on Tuesday it is offering a "secure everything / multi-domain" option for its SSL certificate range (globalsign.com/ssl/index.htm).

By using Subject Alternative Names, GlobalSign enables a single certificate to secure multiple sites, applications or functions operating on the same IP address, including domain names, multi-level subdomains, IP addresses, and localhost names. This new option provides customers with increased flexibility, easier certificate management and lower costs.

The new product enables GlobalSign customers to secure critical functions for Unified Communications on Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft Communications Server 2007, free of charge.

Since a new GlobalSign multi-domain SSL certificate only requires one IP address, it can protect all confidential communications over HTTPS, SMTP, POP/IMAP and other protocols offered through UC.

To celebrate the launch of the new product, GlobalSign says it is adding UC capabilities to its SSL certificate range for free.

"With IT budgets being more carefully controlled than ever, GlobalSign's new offering allows organizations to better manage the costs associated with securing their servers and communications," says Steve Waite, marketing director at GlobalSign. "As multiple IP addresses are not needed, this new certificate enables organizations to secure such servers and communications that would otherwise remain insecure due to IP address availability issues."

The new "secure everything" support adds to the growing list of features offered with the GlobalSign SSL range, which also includes promotional 3 for 1 server licensing, free inclusion of Server Gated Cryptography, and universal recognition by all popular browsers, applications and mobile devices.

The company is offering the new SSL option on all GlobalSign SSL Certificates, including DomainSSL, OrganizationSSL and Extended SSL. The offering is available to all retail and channel partners through the Enterprise Certificate Center for SSL Managed Server customers.

In July, GlobalSign announced its additional revenue streams for partners offering the most highly featured SSL product and offering high revenue per SSL certificate sold.
