An agreement has been reached between managed hosting services provider iomart and Censorit, a provider of internet content filtering services for complete end to end managed hosting service. 

Under the terms of the agreement, iomart will be hosting the web-based service for Censorit, ensuring that a dedicated server is made available to the company. The company chose to use iomart's services because it offers a seamless integration of services and has earlier worked with Censorit for other hosted services.

Dan Makin, founder of Censorit, said: "Who do we choose to host the web-enabled service? This was a serious question for us in the beginning, but iomart's data centres are well-equipped and there are so many layers of contingency built into their systems that it is unlikely they would be any glitch."

Censorit, endeavours to ensure that a safe and secure surfing experience is provided to children who use Wi-Fi enabled gaming consoles such as Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii Sony PSP and portable media players such as the Apple iPod Touch. The software acts as a sieve between the surfer and the web, filtering out websites that have been blacklisted globally. It also looks for terms and phrases that have not been included in the blacklist but can prove to be harmful for a child.

Censorit says that the software also enables parents to monitor their child's internet usage and manage action unblock me requests from their children in addition to personalised blacklists and whitelists. However, the company believes that a service like this needs dedicated hosting services because a problem with the servers could hamper the smooth running of the software, giving children access to unwanted websites.
